Road trips are the muse of many Australian’s daydreams. However, research indicates that Bundabergians are Australia’s ultimate lovers of RV holidays.

Recent research provided by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia highlighted that Bundaberg (4670 Postcode) has the highest combined number of caravan and campervan registrations in the country. With over 5,200 registered recreational vehicles in 2019, this Queensland town topped the next highest registration towns - Mandurah, WA and Toowoomba, QLD.

Bundaberg’s RV registration victory comes after almost a decade long reign of Western Australian town, Mandurah. A decline of 17% in RV registrations in Mandurah during the reporting period of 2018-19 saw the change in result.

On a statewide basis, this shift doesn’t alter the general trends seen in the Figure below. Bundaberg contributes to Queensland’s leading fleet of 192,751 caravans and campervans. Equating to 26% of the total RV registrations in Australia.
