It’s common knowledge that Australians love the great outdoors, and recent research indicates that this is truer now than ever before. The recently released 2020 Caravan and Campervan Data Report highlights leading recreational vehicle trends across Australia. The report paints a positive picture for RV ownership, showing strong growth across caravans and campervans.

Key insights include:

  • 741,443 combined caravan & campervan registrations

  • 4.2% increase on the previous year (30,106 vehicles)

  • Queensland has the largest fleet (26%)

  • Bundaberg, Queensland has the highest combined number of caravan and campervan registrations

Drawing upon ABS 2019 Motor Vehicle Census data, the report is generated by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia, in collaboration with BDO. It’s important to note that the data and findings are from the 2019 calendar year, not 2020. Given the boom of domestic holidays and caravan and RV ownership in 2020, it’s probable that next year’s report will highlight even further growth.
